Welcome

Peter Georges, Sydney Wedding and Headshot Photographer.

It is an illusion that photos are made with the camera… they are made with the eye, heart and head.
— Henri Cartier-Bresson

Welcome to Photography by Peter Georges.

I am a Sydney based photographer specialising in weddings and headshots. You may be wondering what great wedding photography has in common with great head shot photography. As far as i'm concerned the answer is as clear as day: it's all about people!

Photography and lighting are both extremely important and as a self-professed geek I'm always pushing to get visually stunning and technically perfect images. But what good is the best lighting and cameras in the world if you don't represent the person you're capturing at their best also?

I've spent enough time working with my equipment to ensure that my focus is on the person standing in front of the camera rather than the camera itself. This allows me to present a final product which separates me from any other professional photographer.

Coming from a strong movie making background, storytelling is everything.

I carefully search for moments throughout your wedding day and weave them together. Through the powerful medium of photography, you will be presented with the beautiful story of your wedding day.

My clients regularly comment on how much they enjoyed my natural and pose-free photography process.

Photography is simply the process of capturing light.

To become a master of photography one must first become obsessed with lighting.

You wont find me doing a photo shoot without numerous sets of lights. In fact, rarely do I venture into a wedding without a lighting assistant to help me shape the light to tell your story.

These days it's not enough to simply be a photographer.

Being a portrait photographer in addition to a wedding photographer means I have the retouching skills to highlight the beauty of every bride while keeping the edits subtle and realistic.

My goal is simple: to make you look like the best version of yourself.

When I'm working, I never take the easy road. I am always searching for the next image to get jaws to hit the floor, from early in the day till the last moment of the night I cannot stop chasing photography gold.

The following image for example is a blend of three separate photographs. One where the couple is lit with an umbrella for a lovely soft light, the next exposed for the background and the final exposed for the sky. All together they form an image filled with beautiful details whilst still keeping the couple lit perfectly well.

Boom Headshots!

Boom Headshots!

As far as I'm concerned almost anyone can combine a great camera and some lights to capture a technically perfect photograph. I absolutely guarantee that you'll have those aspects of your head shot nailed!

But what good is having the best lighting if you don't look good yourself? Everyone can spot the usual problems: double chins, deadpan expressions, deer in the headlights eyes and so on. My mission is to not only ensure your photographs don't suffer those issues but also to perfectly capture your personality in a photograph.

Who needs headshots?

You might be an actor, a business person, a high school senior or just someone who wants a great facebook profile photograph!

The important of having a great headshot cannot be overstated. As an actor for example, your ability to get auditions almost completely depends on the very first headshot the casting director sees. Headshots are an investment which have a lifespan of two to three years, so why spend your time and hard earned money presenting casting directors and agents a mediocre version of yourself.

I honestly believe that every single person out there has a unique face. Every single person has something about them that makes them look amazing. Taking people's photographs is an absolute passion of mine and I feel blessed to be able to do it as a career. It's unfortunate I can't take my own headshot photographs!

Photobooks

Photobooks

All the work that goes into composition, lighting and post processing to create that Magazine Pop look surely cannot be printed on just anything. You simply want to show them off.

There is no better way of sharing your images with the people you love than by having them printed on an amazing photo book. As a photographer, I feel that every item I deliver to my clients needs to be best in class.

I want you to look in awe the very first time you take the photo book out of it's leather box and feel the weight of it's fine craftsmanship. I want you to see your photographs in the best possible way with high resolution prints and colours that pop. Finally, I want to be able to share in the memories of your wedding day for decades to come which is why I only deal with book makers who deliver the most dependable books your money can buy

I work hard to tailor the photo book to your specification. Thick or thin pages. Leather bound or a printed hard cover. Full two page spreads or inset photographs. Whatever you wish your dream book to be, Photography by Peter Georges can make it happen.

About me

About me

I have spent the last decade in the film industry - working on films such as Happy Feet, The Great Gatsby and The Lego Movie. A camera was never far from my hand.

I am of the belief that the perfect photograph requires a blend of technology and creativity.

Throughout my life I have always sought out a field which allowed me to let the two sides of my mind express themselves simultaneously. I feel lucky to have found that in photography.

The beauty of it for me was that this career in photography was never forced. Even after years of being told that I should pick it up professionally, I let it develop naturally.
